Galapagos photos!

Little Red Bicycle news:

There will be an Etsy shop update on Friday, September 3rd at 4pm PDT.  Additional skeins will be listed after the holiday weekend, and the update will be chock-full of One of a Kind colorways, incapable of being reproduced, so keep your browser open to our shop on Friday!

Vacation was thrilling, if not exhausting: “Wake up”, if you can call it that, was at 6am every day; breakfast at 6:30am, and disembark shortly thereafter for the first island of the day. This was true of each of the 8 days we were on the islands, minus the last (5:30am wake-up).

Nazca Booby

Each island had it’s own set of endemic species, from finches, to mockingbirds, to iguanas and tortoises.  Sea Lions were brazen, caring little about our presence and flopping confidently up to a group of turists standing in the best napping spot on the beach TM, and fall over into a deep slumber.

I spent most of the trip catching up with family, getting to know the other members on the ship (16 of us total), getting some great personal reading in, barely knitting, and taking pictures of everything I could catch with the viewfinder.

M & I, not photogenic

Since deplaning Friday the familiar, somewhat unwelcomed, breakneck pace of University has kept me busy daily. This holiday weekend will hopefully be full of grilling in the sun, camping, hiking, and enjoying the good weather that’s surely out there somewhere. M is slated for another business trip to Cape Town, but the dates have yet to be nailed down. It could be as early as Friday, and will definitely be for several weeks, but either way: this weekend will be full of sunshine, hiking, and camping. Alone or not. :) Kelp

Shop Happenings and Other Updates

Hey there! Long time, no blog. ;)   As the Spring semester began to come to a close, I found myself overwhelmed with work, with chores, and decided to take a step back to balance out. It’s working, each day is better than the last and I’m even doing some fun-for-me knitting again rather than 100% work knitting. It’s wonderful to knit for myself again, after several months of being uninterested in the endeavor.

I’m enrolled in a Summer course on campus currently, in hopes of graduating in December (finally), and have been plugging along at that most days, lately.  LRB has been set on a lower priority as I work my way through the next month’s coursework, but things will pick up in the next few weeks. I’m currently working on some wholesale and consignment orders, so the selection in ye’ old Etsy shop is slim to nil.  If you’re looking for something, shoot me an email or convo me on etsy, I can custom dye with little to no wait.  However, if you want to order some yarn that’s already been dyed, there’s good news for you!  Little Red Bicycle yarns can now be found not only in the Amethyst Cottage Co-Op, or in the Yarn 4 Socks store, but also at Flannelberry Fibre!

Flannelberry Fibre‘s goal is to provide a reasonable price point, as well as excellent customer service, to it’s audience.  At the moment Flannelberry stocks several of the most recent, rather popular colorways. The stock is limited, to start, but will grow as you buy (like how that works?).  They have Cthulhu, Delicates, Shoreline, Nommed by Zombies, Cephalopod Romance, and several other colorways that are to die for.  Give this new shop a shot, the prices are definitely worth your while. :)

In upcoming months I’ll be releasing two brand new bases, as well as updating the names of the lines to keep things cycle-themed.  I’m also working on figuring out a yarn club, and I’ll be updating with that information as it becomes better organized.
